Your memories are personal. Here is how we handle them.

Smruti is a private memory assistant, not a social network. This notice explains what the service receives, why it is needed, and the choices available to you. The Terms of Service cover the rules of using Smruti.

Who runs Smruti

  • Smruti is an early-stage service operated by Krish Waghani, an independent developer based in Los Angeles, California, United States. There is no larger company behind it, and no data-sharing arrangements beyond the service providers listed below.
  • The service runs on servers hosted with Hetzner in the European Union, the database is hosted with Supabase, and this website and dashboard are served by Vercel.

What Smruti receives

  • Your WhatsApp number, profile name when WhatsApp provides it, message timestamps, and the text or media you choose to send.
  • The notes, reminders, lists, contacts, links, bill details, calendar settings, and other memories created from your messages.
  • Basic service information such as message identifiers, delivery state, login codes, and error logs needed to keep the product reliable and prevent duplicate processing.
  • On this website: your email address only if you use an email signup form, and anonymous conversion events (for example "landing viewed" or "WhatsApp started") with no cookies, identifiers, or advertising trackers attached.

How we use it

  • To understand your message, save and retrieve memories, schedule reminders and briefings, maintain lists and balances, and operate the dashboard.
  • To troubleshoot failures, prevent abuse, improve reliability, and respond when you contact support.
  • Smruti uses AI to classify messages and understand text, audio, images, and documents. AI can make mistakes, so check important dates, amounts, summaries, and reminder confirmations.
  • Your memories are never used for advertising, never sold, and never used to build profiles for anyone else.

Service providers

  • WhatsApp (Meta) transports your messages before they reach Smruti, under Meta's own terms and privacy policy.
  • OpenAI processes content to power understanding: language processing, voice-note transcription, and reading the images and documents you send. Content is sent only as needed to answer your request.
  • Supabase hosts the database, Hetzner hosts the servers (EU), and Vercel hosts this website and the dashboard.
  • Google receives calendar events only if you explicitly connect Google Calendar, and access ends when you say "disconnect calendar".
  • Each provider receives only the information needed for its role. We do not sell your personal information.

Retention and deletion

  • Memories stay available until you delete them, so you can retrieve them later - that is the product.
  • You can delete individual items from the dashboard, or mark them done to archive them, at any time.
  • To delete everything, send a message like "delete my account" in the Smruti chat, or email us. A human reviews the request, confirms with you on WhatsApp, and removes your account data from the production database - normally within 30 days. Copies in routine backups expire on their own schedule shortly after.
  • Login codes expire within minutes. Operational logs are kept only as long as reasonably needed to run, secure, and troubleshoot the service.

Security

  • We use access controls and reasonable technical safeguards, but no online service can promise absolute security. Avoid sending passwords, payment-card numbers, government identifiers, or information you would not want processed by an AI service.

Children

  • Smruti is not directed to children and is not intended for anyone under 13, or under the minimum age WhatsApp requires in your region if that is higher. If you believe a child has been using Smruti, contact us and we will delete the account.

Your choices and rights

  • From the WhatsApp chat you can turn briefings off, change your timezone, disconnect calendar access, leave shared lists, and opt out of friend reminders.
  • You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information at any time - in the chat or by email. We verify requests against the WhatsApp number they concern.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have specific legal rights: for example under the GDPR in the European Union or United Kingdom (access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection) or the CCPA/CPRA in California (know, delete, correct, opt out of sale - we do not sell data). We honor these requests regardless of region.

Questions or privacy requests

Email hello@smruti.app, or ask right in the WhatsApp chat. We may need to verify that you control the WhatsApp number connected to the request. If this notice changes in a meaningful way, we will say so on this page and update the date above.
